Introduction

The aim of the city routes: family, migration Photography project was to look into depth of where our families, have come from and how they may have migrated to London. What were also the reasons why they wanted to move or migrate to London? There are many reasons for why families would want to move country and I think the main reason is because they want a better life for their children but also maybe because of war, following family and friends, famine and natural disasters. This includes the culture how different countries live there lives differently. What inspired me initially was when I had to look into my family’s background, there was things I found out which I didn’t know about before until I started this project. We were asked to get hold of images that we thought was the meaning of family, which could be friends also. Tom Wichelow was a media photographer who interpreted Images in a very unusual way. I think he was creative because when he looked at a picture or image he tried to look at what story the picture was trying to tell. I grasped a lot of ideas from Tom Wichelow especially with learning how to be open minded about every image I look at and depending on the caption it may have it can tell a different story. I took a few images of my family, but I also used old images as I felt that those images, had a deeper story about my family and me, I was really connected with my family then.
